Job Summary
The Linux Engineer is responsible for a variety of functions within the project implementation process including Business Analyst, Project Management, and Technical Resource/Implementer. The individual should be familiar with developing engineering standards, workflow, process improvements, research new technologies and transfer system support OPs team.
The remaining focus will be around the regular administration/ maintenance of Linux environments and related tools including upgrading/ troubleshooting and maintaining documentation.
Essential job duties
- The Linux engineer to work on designing and implementing new platforms require supporting the business.
- Manage Linux Red Hat 6/7/8 systems for all environments, including but not limited to production, lab and test.
- Scripting in either Bash/Perl/Python to administer systems, applications, provide automation and for reporting.
- Creating provisioning templates for Bare-metal, VMware, and Cloud platforms.
- Plan, design, document and implement Production-level systems and processes as per Business requirements.
- Be able to provide recommendations to enhance current environment.
- Familiar with Linux/Unix patching processes to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely manner.
- Evaluating and implementing new software and OS configurations.
- Accurately document instances of infrastructure server component failure, remediation, and preventative measures.
- Project based implementation and deployment.
- Manage the lifecycle of Linux/Unix systems from birth to sunset.
- Be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Be able to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Design, document and implement Business Continuity Procedure systems based on Business RTO/RPO requirements.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with VMware.
- Familiarity with DevOPs culture, including CI/CD and configuration managements (ie: Ansible, Puppet).
- Familiarity with contain technologies (ie: Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of modern cloud offering, including those from Azure and AWS.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience with required certifications.
- Strong hands-on technical experiences on managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows.
- Strong hands-on technical experiences on writing Ansible Playbooks, roles.
- Strong hands-on technical experiences on Bash, or Python.
- Managing Ansible Tower, or Ansible Automation Platform, Red Hat Satellite, and Red Hat IdM
- 3 ~ 5 years of experience in a similar or related position.
- Strong communications skills required.
Miscellaneous
- Experience working with the Financial Services Industry.
- Required to be on-call.
- Hybrid position in NYC/NJ.
The expected base salary ranges from $75k-$130k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
