SUMMARY
The Stockpot Norfolk is seeking a skilled line cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment and possess the strong time management skills. Responsibilities include efficient dish execution during service and preparing menu items according to recipe standards. We are looking for individuals with previous experience in the food service industry and who are dedicated to delivering high-quality food presentation and exceptional service in.
Part-time availability to begin with potential for full-time hours in the future. Competitive pay with growth potential. For consideration for the position, you must have availability on at least one weekend day & Wednesdays (our Ramen day & typically the busiest day of the week). We expect this person to work around 20 hours a week to start.
We offer a competitive compensation package for the line cook position, which includes an hourly wage plus a share of the tips. Starting pay for this position is higher, ranging from $18 to $26 per hour when considering both the hourly rate and the tips received. Additionally, we provide comprehensive benefits to our full-time employees after 60 days, including health insurance (with the company covering half of the cost), dental coverage, and vision insurance. Furthermore, all employees, including part-time staff, earn paid time off (PTO). After completing one year of employment, you will also be eligible for paid vacation and a 401K match.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- prepare components of each dish using standardized recipes
- memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures
- ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas, and all food storage areas meets industry cleaning standards
- monitor product freshness and rotate out old product to dates
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 3+ years cooking and 1+ year professional kitchen experience
- come to shift on time, presentable, and with sharpened knives
- ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day
- must have AM & PM availability (we are open Wednesday until 8:30PM) and weekends (typically off between 4-5PM every day)
- must be able to lift at least 40lbs at a time on regular basis
- excellent organization and communication skills
- comfortable working closely with team members in a fast-paced and open kitchen environment.
