Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lighting Engineer to join our Traffic Department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design, implementation, and maintenance of lighting systems for our transportation projects. Your expertise will contribute to the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our infrastructure, making a positive impact on the communities we serve.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
Key Responsibilities:
- Lighting System Design: Collaborate with project teams to design and specify lighting systems for transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, and interchanges.
- Compliance: Ensure all lighting designs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and standards, such as the NEC (national electric code) and IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) guidelines.
- Technological Integration: Stay updated on emerging lighting technologies, including smart lighting systems, LED fixtures, and energy-efficient solutions, and incorporate them into project designs where applicable.
- Technical Drawings: Prepare detailed lighting plans and construction drawings, including fixture layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
- Budget and Cost Control: Assist in estimating project budgets, monitoring project costs, and proposing cost-effective lighting solutions.
- Site Evaluation: Conduct site surveys to assess existing lighting conditions and recommend improvements or replacements as necessary.
- Vendor Relations: Work with lighting equipment suppliers and manufacturers to source and procure lighting fixtures and materials that meet project requirements.
- Quality Control: Ensure the proper installation, alignment, and functionality of lighting systems during construction and post-construction phases.
- Maintenance and Upkeep: Develop maintenance plans and schedules for installed lighting systems to maximize their lifespan and maintain optimal performance.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to lighting design and implementation.
- Safety: Prioritize safety in all aspects of lighting design, considering factors such as glare reduction, visibility, and emergency lighting.
What you'll need
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in Lighting Engineering, with a focus on transportation projects.
- Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., AGi32, Dialux) and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of lighting fixtures, control systems, and electrical systems.
