The Air Force Civil Engineer (AFCEC) community has identified the cybersecurity of Civil Engineer (CE) Control Systems as essential in securing the infrastructure at Department of the Air Force (DAF) installations. The AFCEC Operations Directorate (AFCEC/CO) is tasked to support securing this infrastructure by contracting for cybersecurity service capabilities on behalf of the CE enterprise. AFCEC manages cyber risk; and identifies, mitigates, monitors, and predicts cyber vulnerabilities related to CE Control Systems worldwide. By Light is looking to staff positions that would provide innovative, customer-focused, and cost-effective Information Assurance/cybersecurity system engineering support services by applying industry standard best practices in addressing mission requirements.
- Interprets requirements and complex specifications to identify potential technical solutions.
- Ensures adherence and conformance to schedule/cost requirements and to specifications through supervision of the verification, validation, testing and debugging of solutions.
- Oversees and manages the installation and test of systems.
- Coordinates with customer representatives to develop technical requirements from customer input, and then coordinates with subordinates to direct system and subsystem design and development to meet technical requirements.
- This spans development, implementation, testing, documentation, and installation of hardware and software systems and equipment.
- Bachelors degree in a technical discipline such as computer science, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of Three (3) years experience working as a Systems Engineer solving complex Department of Defense engineering and technical problems.
- Demonstrated experience with the configuration and deployment of software systems
- Requires competence with software/hardware design and development of large-scale systems, the application of software standards, industry quality assurance, quality control, independent verification and validation techniques, testing standards, DevOps, cybersecurity, virtualization technologies, computer assisted software engineering techniques and design philosophies.
- Must have demonstrable ability to lead and manage teams of three to eight personnel with minimal supervision, and to exercise independent judgment in task execution.
- Use scripting languages for automation, administration, data collection and reporting. This job requires the ability to write, test, debug, deploy, and sustain scripts.
- Analyzes real world problems and implements solutions according to corporate guidelines and procedures, and industry best practices.
- Provides professional-level IT, virtual environment, and network support functions, and assists software developers, integration, and test engineers with DevOps functions.
- Must be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and able to work with/manage a range of engineers holding a diverse set of skills at differing levels of experience.
- Be sensitive and flexible to the needs and requirements of the customer.
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- IAT Level II or greater. Security+, CISSP or other equivalent certification.
- Ability to configuration manage, version control, and backup various scripts and work products created to execute and maintain the environment.
- Prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
- Interact with vendors/users/customers and developers to understand needs and operational requirements changes that will impact development and testing activities, examine any relevant change implementation, then report the changes to developers and testers welcoming feedback for future improvements.
- Ability to solve technical problems involving a variety of integrated software and hardware platforms.
- Expertise with offensive and/or defensive cyber training.
