Our Lift Operator operates aerial and surface ski lifts, including executing the safe, efficient and courteous loading, seating and unloading of skiers and snowboarders.
Position: Lift Operator
Position Type: Seasonal
Performance Expectations:
- Adhere to an early morning start time and possible late departures
- Executes the safe, efficient and courteous loading, seating and unloading of skiers and snowboarders and adaptive equipment
- Maintains safe levels of snow throughout the entire lift station area and maintains safe walking surfaces
- Ensures guests have proper credentials to access the lift system
- Stops or slows the lift for safety / emergency purposes / adaptive equipment
- Performs daily pre-operational checks and inspections to ensure safe operation of lift including proper documentation
- Responds to and reports emergencies and accidents following proper procedures
- Assist in assuring and monitoring the operation of the lifts in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and other state and federal regulations
- Monitor winds and other weather events
- Team player!
- Maintains the cleanliness of assigned lift building
- Reports to Lift Lead Operator
Requirements
- Adhere to an early morning start time and possible late departures
- Must be 18+ years old. No exceptions!
- Exceptional guest service
- Able to work weekends, nights and some holidays
- Flexible schedule helpful
- Ability to communicate with co-workers, and other departments with professionalism and respect
- Great attitude, positive mindset, and able to adapt to an ever-changing environment
- Act in accordance to Powder Mountain's policies and procedures
- Intermediate level ski or snowboarding preferred, but not required.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation. Free UTA Bus pass to all Powder Mountain Team Members!
- Maintain punctual attendance
Uniform Requirement:
Mountain/Weather Appropriate, Personal Black Snow Pants, & Company Issued Jacket
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:
- Full range of body movements
- Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (40+lbs)
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and twisting
- Vision requirements - close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
- Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain
- Climb/descend stairs/ladders
- Manual dexterity to operate manual tools and power equipment on a constant basis
- Safely handle hazardous materials
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily outside and is exposed to extreme temperatures, sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice), high altitudes (9,000 ft+), noise, and moving machines/equipment. Work performed inside requires full attentiveness to individuals riding the lift and weather conditions.
