Job Description
The YMCA is looking for a full-time Lifeguard Coordinator to manage the Y's lifeguard staff and daily pool activities, as well as maintain the health and safety of participants and staff in the Fercho Aquatic Center. This position will administer and provide direct leadership to all pool activities, to include supervision of all related personnel, facilities and equipment for the Aquatics Department, with an emphasis on lifeguards.

Lifeguard Coordinator:
- Assures all lifeguard staff are knowledgeable and ready to respond to any incident.
- Assures lifeguards have all necessary supplies and the equipment is clean and in good condition.
- Responds to all member/participant inquiries in a timely manner.
- Oversees Lifeguard Recertification of current staff and assures Red Cross entries for any safety education classes for aquatics staff are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
- Holds in-service trainings for all lifeguard staff on a monthly basis, and tracks attendance and make-up in-services.
- Supervises and gives guidance to safety education instructors while they are helping with in-service trainings or other lifeguard staff trainings.
- Administers quick checks and drop audits on lifeguard staff.
- Oversees the implementation of any new preventative measures to reduce drownings.
- In the absence of the Swim Lessons Coordinator, steps in as a swim instructor when necessary and assists with registration or class rearrangements.
- Engages in positive interactions with all members and participants in the aquatics center.
- Is responsible for the knowledge and understanding of the Aquatics department policies and procedures.
- Maintains a constant communication pipeline with the Aquatics Director, Assistant Aquatics Director, and Swim Lesson Coordinator.
- Is an active Member of the YMCA Employee Safety Committee, which includes monthly meetings.

Qualifications:
- 2 year degree in a directly related field or an equivalent combination of directly related experience, training and/or education.
- Current Lifeguard Certification
- CPR/First Aid Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant for the Professional Rescuer (may not be an online course)
- Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- Within 6 months of hire: Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certification
