Job Summary Job Summary

We are looking for a Life Skills Instructor to work with clients within the San Gabriel Valley. This opportunity is full-time at 37.5 hours per week. Our Instructors support clients in maintaining and/or obtaining the skills needed to achieve independence. This is done by teaching daily living skills through engaging and fun activities in both a classroom and a community-based setting. $17.50-$19.89 per hour *Salary range is contingent upon relatable experience, credentialing/certification, education, and use of a second language in your role (50% of the time). You will need the following minimum qualifications to be considered : Must be able to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19 Must have a valid California Driver's License in good standing. Must own a vehicle and possess proof of business-related insurance. If you transport clients in company-owned vehicles, you must be willing to participate in transportation training sessions. A current background check through the FBI, DOJ, and Community Care Licensing must be submitted. CPR/First Aid, health clearance required but can provide in-house CPR training. Must be willing to complete 3 sessions of a 10-week graduate-level training program as part of the conditions of employment. Must be able to participate and complete mandatory CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training and be able to utilize all aspects of this training within an instructional setting when necessary. A current TB Test (within the last 2 months). Must have knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Preferred qualifications include : A.A. degree preferred, but an individual can be currently enrolled in a training program at college or university level, or have more than 3 years experience and evidence of job-related training. 1-3 years of experience working with adults with developmental disabil

Life Skills Instructors at IRL will: Provide direct instruction on-site and in the community. Submit daily case note documentation, 6-month progress reports, and Individual Service Plan goals and objectives on the respective due dates for review to the TAS Supervisor. Provide direct instruction and training in the areas of independent living skills, budgeting, and money management, functional academics, cooking, and shopping. Instruction may occur in the consumer's home and/or in the community. Meet with supervisor to discuss clients ISP goals, objectives, barriers to making progress and plan for intervention. Collaborate with the Supported Employment Services team when the client has been referred for vocational transition. Problem solve and formulate the client's goals and develop and plan curriculum and training activities to address individual goals and objectives. Perform all other duties as assigned.
