Job Title: Trail Youth Counselor
Overview: As a Trail Youth Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in providing support, guidance, and mentorship to youth participants in our program. You will work closely with young individuals facing diverse challenges, utilizing counseling techniques, activities during our teen hangout hours, and a strengths-based approach to empower them on their journey towards personal growth and positive life choices.
Responsibilities:
- Counseling and Guidance
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address the emotional, behavioral, and social needs of youth participants.
- Develop and implement personalized counseling plans based on individual assessments and identified goals.
- Mentorship and Support
- Build positive relationships with youth, serving as a mentor and role model.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and guidance to help youth navigate challenges and make positive decisions.
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Collaborate with community networks and providers to design and implement activities that align with counseling objectives.
- Develop and facilitate workshops, group activities, and therapeutic interventions to enhance the overall program effectiveness.
- Assessment and Documentation:
- Conduct regular assessments of participants' progress and document relevant information.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records with HIPAA guidelines of counseling sessions, participant interactions, and program outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with other counselors, program staff, schools, and external partners to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to participant support.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and relevant stakeholders regarding participants' progress and challenges.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Be prepared to handle crisis situations effectively, providing immediate support and implementing appropriate interventions.
- Follow organizational protocols for reporting and addressing critical incidents.
- Using approaches that reduce the stigma for asking for help and reducing isolation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with youth in a counseling or mentorship capacity.
- Knowledge of counseling theories, therapeutic techniques, and trauma-informed care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to facilitate activities and outcome-based experiences.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to the diverse needs of youth from various backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensure or certification in counseling or a related field.
- Experience with adventure therapy or outdoor experiential programs.
- Training in trauma-focused interventions.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate participant needs and program activities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00 - $45.00 per hour
