Description
The Dane County Department of Human Services (DCDHS) - Badger Prairie Health Care Center (BPHCC) is recruiting for a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). As positions with higher FTE percentages become available, they are offered to current employees first and are only posted externally If they cannot be filled internally. The eligible list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within the next six (6) months.

DEFINITION
Perform skilled nursing services within the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License. Responsible for coordinating and providing resident care on the households/neighborhoods, providing leadership and direction to nursing staff, collaborating with inter-disciplinary team, and performing other related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Monitors residents condition and gathers data to support the resident assessment process. Records residents information in the electronic medical record. Prepares and administers medication to residents. Performs prescribed nursing treatments. Observes and records residents response to medication, along with physical and mental status. Coordinates the duties and responsibilities for the shift with the Charge Nurse, Clinical Care Coordinator (CCC) and/or the Nurse Manager. Communicates and coordinates implementation of the care plan. Coordinates and collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate delivery of resident care. Monitors Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performance of duties for completeness and adherence with the residents plan of care. Maintains the confidentiality of all resident personal health information and complies with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements. Perform charge nurse functions, including scheduling on an as needed basis.
Education, Experience & Special Requirements
Education, Training and Experience:
Must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Wisconsin and must have completed an accredited LPN program. Must be certified in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Experience in geriatrics, psychiatrics or long-term care is preferred.

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
Ability to operate equipment and machinery requiring complex and rapid adjustments such as sphygmomanometer, otoscope, syringes, feeding pumps, O2 cannulas and concentrators, nasal tubes, stethoscopes, glucometer, nebulizer, suction machines, and oxygen equipment, and thermometers. Ability to handle, load and unload, and move and guide material using simple tools. Ability to exert physical effort in moderate to heavy work, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted. Including residents, med carts and other necessary items related to performing the LPN role. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language in an understandable manner. Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position and be in good general health. Ability to relate to and support individuals within the facility who are mentally/physically disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile. Ability to run at least one flight of stairs to respond to emergency situations. Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents. Potential for exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including blood borne and air borne pathogens. Required to wear personal protective equipment, up to and including, an N95 respirator.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of terminology, theory techniques and current standards of practice. Knowledge of medication, usage, effects, adverse reactions and contraindications. Ability to collaborate in development and implementation of a resident care. Ability to analyze data and information using established criteria. Ability to work collaboratively and cooperative with inter-disciplinary team and lead and assist the work of nursing personnel. Ability to communicate effectively with inter-disciplinary team and families/guardians.

Bilingual Pay: Employees who work in bilingual designated positions receive an additional $2.00 per hour.
Undesirable Hours Premium Pay: Employees may receive undesirable hours pay of $2.00 for anytime worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m and for anytime on Saturday and/or Sunday. (not applicable with all employee groups).
Paid Parental Leave: Dane County also provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption of a child.
Caregiver Leave: Dane County offers 80 hours of paid leave to care for an ill family member.
Telecommuting: Telecommuting allows employees to work remotely for all or part of their workweek. Dane County considers telecommuting to be a viable, flexible option when both the employee and the job are suited to such an arrangement. Dane County will permit telecommuting when it benefits the productivity of the employee and their department and if determined by employee's department that telecommuting is not detrimental to either the County or the employee.
Student Loan Forgiveness: If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
WI Retirement System: Employees hired after 7-1-11 must be expected to work a minimum of 1200 hours annually to be enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System when hired.
