Job Title: Library Technician

Salary: $28 - $30 Commensurate with Experience

JOB SUMMARY
Grant funded position for 12 months. Report directly to library manager and assist with daily tasks of a small rural library primarily in collection and catalog management and program development.

TYPICAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Primary duties:
Catalog and maintain the library material and collection.
Stay up to date on library best practices and policy.
Process print and non-print library materials to prepare them for inclusion in library collections.
Use and maintain computer library database to help locate library materials.
Familiarity with Resource Description and Access (RDA), Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR), Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC) and newer metadata standards, follow library standards and guidelines when classifying documents.
Ensure all material can be retrieved conveniently using standardized methods.
Perform original and copy cataloging and adapt on-line records according to guidelines in all subject areas and languages.
Teach on how to use the library resources and develop, organize, implement, or assist library events and programs for all ages.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate Degree, Bachelor's preferred. Documented library experience is accepted in lieu of education.
Catalog training and experience a must.
