This position is located at the State Library in Baton Rouge, LA.
This position does not require a Civil Service test score.
Position Summary: This position reports to the Coordinator, Special Services for the Talking Books and Braille Library. This position performs daily mail duties; inspects, sorts, and cleans incoming materials books and machines; duplicates tapes; and participates in planning and policy setting for the Machine and Materials unit.
50% Performs daily mail duties
- Duplicates book requests for TBBL patrons
- Checks-in returned cartridges
- Repurposes recycled digital cartridges
- Inspects incoming audio books and contacts patron is cartridges are missing
- Re-shelves returned cartridges
- Assists coordinator with weeding the digital collection
- Labels materials for Duplication-on-Demand
- Maintains work areas in a neat clean condition
- Develops and updates workflow procedures
- Catalogs Large Print books.
- Oversees the recycling of audiobooks
- Duplicates digital quarterly newsletter
- Enter patron book requests as needed
- Add ratings to unrated books as needed
- Assists the Children Librarian with Early Literacy as needed
- Assists in the Reader Advisor Unit as needed
- Answers telephones, or greets walk-in patrons
- Helps the entire library by moving furniture and setting up for meetings and seminars
- Follows safety procedures and being careful not to block fire exits
The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.

Qualifications
Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
