Job Description:


SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) Assistant Director. This position is a professional (unrepresented) full-time, grant funded, contracted position. Under the general direction of the Program Administrator of Liberty Partnership Program, the Assistant Director of LPP assists the Program Administrator with specific responsibilities in overseeing the Academic and Support Services, College Preparation, Workforce Development, and other Intervention Services components of Schenectady County Community College's Liberty Partnerships Program working in collaboration with the college and the Schenectady City School District.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist the Program Administrator in the development, planning and implementation of school day, afterschool, and summer programming with a particular focus on the high school population and sites to include:
    • Tutoring program, enrichment activities, workshops, and field trips.
    • Parental engagement activities.
    • Implementing student development initiatives, recruitment, and retention strategies.
    • Workforce development.
    • Counseling and referral assistance services.
    • Review of program outcomes and assessments.
  • Carry a caseload of students and be responsible for assisting them in completing and updating Personal Learning Plans.
  • Mange student file system to include the collection and maintenance of all site specific data and information, to include student admissions applications, personal learning plans, evaluations, progress reports, report cards, etc.
  • Maintain the LPP reporting database.
  • Assist the Counselor with implementation of the socio-emotional assessments tools for high school students.
  • Track and submit monthly attendance and service records.
  • Attend all meetings of the Liberty Partnership Advisory Committee.
  • Assume responsibility of the Program Administrator in times of his/her absence.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Administrator relevant to the program.

Minimum Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher required in social work, human services, education, counseling, psychology, or related area.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a secondary or post-secondary setting with economically or educationally disadvantaged students.
  • Two years' experience in academic advising, tutoring, counseling, or teaching.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of youth and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of local resources available for students and their families.
  • Technology proficient.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of financial aid policies and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of facilitating/leading workshops, activities, and lessons.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel to all partner schools, SUNY Schenectady, and partnering agencies throughout the Schenectady area.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access
  • Trauma-informed training and/or experience preferred.

Special Information:
