EY Americas Public Policy team identifies emerging policy challenges and opportunities through active, daily engagement with key policymakers and regulators at various levels of government, and dialogue with capital markets stakeholders. We work across EY to develop thought leadership and data valuable to advancing our agenda, and our team offers real-time analysis of policy concerns and priorities that could impact EY and its clients.

 

The opportunity

As a Regulatory Policy Supervising Associate, you’ll be responsible for supporting development and implementation of EY public policy initiatives. You’ll work in the Office of Public Policy focusing on U.S. regulatory developments and stakeholder engagement activities. This position is needed to support OPP’s expanding scope of work with EY throughout the U.S. and will work closely with the OPP Director Regulatory Policy.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Assist the EY Americas Area Office of Public Policy (OPP) in the development and execution of EY’s public policy strategy
  • Monitor, research, analyze and report on U.S. public policy and stakeholder perspectives of interest to EY and the accounting profession including a particular focus on developments regarding key regulators such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB)
  • Forge effective professional relationships within the organization across multiple functions including Service Lines, Office of General Counsel, Risk Management and Communications
  • Participate in profession and other external forums in a manner informed by and consistent with EY perspectives to gain insights on key developments that benefit the team and its public policy efforts
  • Support OPP stakeholder engagement activities to optimize interactions with public policy stakeholders by close monitoring of and reporting on US public policy and regulatory developments, supporting project teams, tracking related activities and assisting with external stakeholder communications
  • Some travel may be required

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • You’ll need to be skilled at monitoring US regulatory and public policy issues that affect the audit profession and related developments. Additionally, you’ll need to be able to identify important developments and trends with respect to EY’s business
  • You’ll need strong writing and oral communication skills and be able to communicate and appropriately tailor communications about these policy developments to various internal and external audiences 
  • Experience in drafting briefing material and presentations on public policy issues at executive level with demonstrated business writing skills
  • An understanding of and passion for US public policy and regulatory environment and experience monitoring and communicating about complex policy subject matters
  • Ability to identify and analyze public policy developments, put them into context and identify/communicate key concerns and insights
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks from multiple supervisors, on varying topics, as well as manage projects involving input from multiple sources
  • Strategic thinking skills and experience addressing complex challenges
  • Agility to pivot to emerging issues and complete tasks of an urgent nature
  • Ability to work independently and in consultation with others, but with limited direct supervision  


To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of public policy experience, preferably at federal agency or other equivalent regulatory/policy experience

What we offer
 
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $71,700 to $130,100. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $86,000 to $147,900.  Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
