General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities

Under Executive direction, with broad scope for the exercise of independent initiative, judgment, and decision-making, The Queens County District Attorney's Office is seeking a skilled researcher and lawyer who can translate complex analyses into clear findings and policy options for a broad range of audiences. This individual will oversee the development of a state-of-the-art data collection and analysis program to optimize the collection and depiction of information related to crime, the judicial process and public safety in the borough of Queens. The Legal Analytics Coordinator will be a key member of the Chief of Staff's team and will be responsible for agency-wide coordination among executives, attorneys, trial preparation assistants and information technology professionals.   The Legal Analytics Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring that the data collected from the bureaus is accurate, complete, and transparently sourced for the purpose of supporting the integrity obligations of the office and advising executive staff on politically sensitive decisions.  Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing expertise in the design and implementation of the QDA data collection process.
  • Providing methodological oversight and supervising the development of reports, dashboards etc. for management staff to quickly identify changing patterns.
  • Communicating with management staff to determine the best indicators of efficacy.
  • Working closely with software application analysts and developers to ensure that necessary data is available for analytical purposes.
  • Collaborating with other agencies and stakeholders such at NYPD IT Bureau, OCA, MOCJ, NYC Dept of Info Technology and DOC.
  • Advises the District Attorney, Chief Assistant District Attorney, Chief of Staff and Executive staff on an ongoing basis on the development and implementation of strategies in this area.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • JD Degree and member in good standing of the NY State Bar.
  • US Citizenship and NY State residency required as of first day of employment.
  • Prosecutorial experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple long-term projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with all levels of staff, with a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information.
  • Candidates with knowledge and familiarity with data analysis are preferred.

Salary commensurate with experience. Salary range from $151,500 to $175,000.
