Title: Lecturer Part-Time in Composition

Position Description

The School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (IAS) at the University of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell) seeks a dynamic educator in Composition. This person will have expertise in interdisciplinary pedagogy and portfolio-based teaching. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to innovative and effective pedagogy; ability to address questions of diversity, equity and inclusion in courses; and expertise in working with diverse student populations. The candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching Composition and Research Writing in our first-year program. For information on the Composition program, please see their webpage.

We are seeking a candidate to join our faculty to join our faculty on at least a part-time (50%) basis for a 9-month service period with opportunities to teach during the summer. Positions in this title are non-tenure track and not promotion eligible. Appointments in these positions may be for multiple years (1-5 years). Reappointments are contingent upon instructional needs, performance and funding. The start date is September 16, 2024. The base salary range for this position will be $4800- $6900 per month during the academic year (nine months), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements for the position include:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent professional experience required by time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovative and effective pedagogy
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in Composition and Research Writing
  • Demonstrated ability to address questions of diversity, equity and inclusion in courses and scholarship
  • Expertise in working with diverse student populations
