The Opportunity
The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for two 9-month, non-tenure earning lecturers in Emerging Media Experimental Animation. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2024.
The successful candidates will play an important role in the SVAD Emerging Media BFA Experimental Animation track. The candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles and elements of design as applied to animation, 3D production, and visual storytelling. Core areas of specialization needed are 2-D animation, 3-D animation, or both. Other core areas could include 3-D modeling, texturing, and surfacing. Additionally, knowledge of digital pre-production or visual effects is a plus. The principal duties of this position include teaching a four-course load per semester and service at the UCF Orlando main campus.

Minimum Qualifications:
A terminal degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution. Appropriate disciplines include digital art, film, animation, the fine arts, or media-related discipline.
Candidates must have at least one-year previous teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher education or relevant professional industry experience in the fields listed above.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in one or more of the following software is helpful: ToonBoom Harmony or equivalent industry standard 2-D software, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Substance Painter.
A strong understanding of traditional and digital animation and production pipeline is encouraged in their personal portfolio and/or academic student samples.
Lastly, a working knowledge of production development and design, storytelling, rendering and compositing to enhance visual language is also preferred.
