Major/Essential Functions
The Department of Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences in the College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month online Lecturer in the Counseling and Addiction Recovery Sciences major, to begin August 1, 2024. The position includes teaching four online courses each term (fall, spring, summer) and participating in the monthly TTU Online Faculty Advisory Committee. Development of new online courses will be supported by the TTU Online academic program and faculty support team. Remote duty point/telecommuting will be considered for highly qualified applicants. Applications will be accepted through January 14, 2024 or until the position is filled.
At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. This position will be a 12-month appointment, remote.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
  1. Doctorate in related field.
  2. Experience in developing online asynchronous courses and creating accessible course materials.
  3. Demonstrated ability to successfully work and communicate remotely with a team.
  4. Proficiency with various Learning Management Systems and remote communication tools such as Blackboard, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

Required Qualifications
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate level.
Specific required qualifications are:
  1. Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or other closely aligned field.
  2. Evidence of collegiate online teaching effectiveness.
  3. Licensed or License-eligible LPC, LMFT, LCDC, or other mental health license.
  4. Professional practice experience in a mental health-related field.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY, FAMILY, AND ADDICTION SCIENCES
The mission of the Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences (CFAS) Department is to prepare future professionals to enrich the lives of others utilizing a systemic perspective. To this end, the CFAS Department is home to programs specifically focused on empowering students to develop skills in counseling, addiction and recovery, licensed mental health practice, and applying a scientist-practitioner approach to producing meaningful scholarship. The CFAS Department is home to highly regarded programs, including the Counseling and Addiction Recovery Sciences (CARS) undergraduate degree program, master's and doctoral degree programs in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy (CMFT), and a doctoral degree program in Addictive Disorders and Recovery Sciences (ADRS).
