Under the direction of the Compensation and Benefits Manager, administers Team Member Family Medical and Personal leaves of absence in compliance with Federal leave laws and regulations and Chumash Enterprises policies. Builds and maintains working relationships with Team Members and Enterprise Leadership ensuring consistent communication and offering exceptional service to internal clients.
This role and its function are part of the Human Resources shared services model. A Team Member in a shared service structure, works within a dedicated business unit (including people, processes, and technologies) that is structured as a centralized point of service and is focused on defined business functions. These units typically serve multiple business groups enterprise wide, and typically have established Service Level Agreements.
- Responds to Team Member inquiries related to benefit programs and leave of absences in a timely manner.
- Consults with, and advises Team Members on eligibility, provisions, and other matters related to FMLA and Personal leaves. Includes Military leaves.
- Ensures medical documentation is sufficient to determine leave eligibility and uses good judgment to determine when additional documentation is required.
- Processes associated electronic forms related to leave of absence and termination due to leave of absence exhaustion.
- Responsible for notification processes of Team Members’ leaves and exhaustions of leave.
- Performs data updates in the Human Resources/Payroll and benefits systems ensuring accuracy.
- Provides benefit and leave related reports by extracting data from Human Resources and benefit systems.
- Maintains records related to leave administration and ensures strict confidentially at all times.
- Ensures processes are well-documented and updated as laws and regulations require changes to processes, forms, or policies.
- Sends billing and payment agreements to ensure Team Member payments are timely; makes recommendations to management for collections related to unique situations of Team Members.
- Keeps informed of new trends, developments, laws, and regulations related to leave administration.

- High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Three years of experience in human resources including experience with leave administration.
- Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Knowledge of applicable law, regulations, rules, procedures, and administration is required.
- May be required to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends in support of a 27/4 operation.
- Intermediate proficiency in computers, including Microsoft Office and HRIS database applications, email, and Internet.
- Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
