JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the OSS Director, responsible for the implementation of support services for students with disabilities in conjunction with the services offered by OSS. Serves as liaison and consultant to faculty and staff regarding assigned OSS students. Develops appropriate, individualized prescriptive techniques necessary to enhance the likelihood of academic success, including diagnostic evaluation, modified testing, adaptive equipment, educational materials, tutorial support, academic strategies instruction, and other services. Advocate for full participation in all College activities by students with disabilities. Maintenance of student records in accordancewith College and grant requirements.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee's regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.
Starting Salary: $69,984.76 - $83,309.86

JOB SUMMARY

DUTIES
• Provides specialized counseling and advisement to students regarding academic and academically-related issues, specifically those related to disabilities. Develops and implements individualized learning strategies.
• Coordinates all accommodations and services for assigned caseload, including alternative testing, utilization of reader, scribe, notetaker services, and/or tutorial assistance.
• Participates in the determination of disability and accommodation eligibility.
• Advises faculty and staff regarding appropriate classroom modifications, optimal teaching strategies, and testing accommodations for students who have difficulty learning or demonstrating their learning in conventional ways.
• Confers with the College administration on required services for students with disabilities as determined by federal, state, and local statutes and consults with academic administration in determining appropriate policies regarding students with disabilities.
• Develops special projects.
• Conducts training, workshops, or seminars for students, faculty, and staff of the College as well as outside agencies and programs as requested.
• Assists as needed in accommodated test administration for students with disabilities.
• Assists OSS colleagues in recruitment, training, and quality control of student aides working with OSS students in the capacity of tutor, reader, scribe, or notetaker.
• Provides screenings and referrals for students with suspected disabilities.
• Participates in and receives on-going training and professional development through state and national organizations in the field of post-secondary education for students with disabilities.
• Maintains student records and files.
• Prepares reports, studies, and public relations material for the review, information, and assistance of the OSS Director.
• Attends and participates in meetings and College events related to assigned responsibilities. Represents the Office and the College at conferences, meetings, seminars, and to the public as required.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities, Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
NJ LDT-C or out-of-state equivalent, NCED, strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years of experience working with adults with disabilities or students in a post-secondary program. 3 years of experience working with college-bound students with disabilities at the secondary level may be substituted.
- Knowledge of disabilities and their effects on the ability to do college work.
- Knowledge of diagnostic assessment instruments and proper interpretation formats.
- Knowledge of appropriate academic adjustments, including adaptive equipment necessary for adequate academic performance.
- Knowledge of appropriate academic accommodation in order to provide equal access to College programs.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relations, oral and written communication, and organization.
• Able to work in a collaborative manner in a team environment.
• Use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and voicemail required. Familiarity with g-mail, Starfish (Connect), PeopleSoft (Banner), and AIM (OSSOnline) software preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
