Reports to the Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Performance (OEP) and acts as an internal consultant to leaders to assist in the resolution of problems through Organizational Development interventions and/or training. Partners with leadership to enable organizational alignment toward critical business objectives and affect change management. Conducts leadership and general training sessions to assist in the development of employees' skills and to increase effectiveness. Develops new Organizational Development interventions and training programs to meet Hopkins needs as determined by needs assessments. Evaluates impact of interventions and learning programs on the accomplishment of departmental and organizational goals.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in organization development, education, applied behavioral science, or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience: Must have five years of progressively responsible work-related experience designing, customizing, delivering, and evaluating organization development interventions and training modules in a business setting. Experience to include group processes, intervention design and implementation, contract negotiation, needs assessment and analysis, training delivery and evaluation, and instructional design. Experience in staff, management, and organization development is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct needs assessments and analysis to identify skills gaps and learning requirements within the organization
- Design, develop, and deliver training and development programs that align with organizational goals and workforce needs
- Design and improve onboarding program for new employees to facilitate a smooth transition into the organization
- Facilitate and implement leadership development initiatives to cultivate and enhance leadership skills at all levels
- Collaborate with HR to develop performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms
- Support the organization in managing change by developing change management strategies, communication plans, and training programs
- Enhance employee engagement through programs, surveys, and initiatives that support a positive work environment
- Establish and measure key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of learning and development programs
- Act as an internal Learning & organization development consultant to manage organizational change using action research models
- Provide consultations and interventions in response to management requests
- Participate in identifying and planning strategic initiatives as assigned
- Conduct training sessions for all levels of employees using written materials, oral presentations, and technology to assist client groups in the development of skills and to increase effectiveness
- Measure the impact of various learning programs to ensure the appropriate business outcome is achieved
- Continually assess training needs and collaborate with training staff to ensure training material is current and effective
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High level of proficiency in adult education and training, data analysis, and group presentation.
- Knowledge of theory and practice of organization development, training and development, change management, organizational behavior, group development, organizational learning, instructional design, and systems theory.
- Must be familiar with different approaches to staff and management development using various delivery systems.
- Must have a relatively high level of analytical ability to analyze organizational structures, evaluate programs for impact and effectiveness, identify problem areas, and provide solutions.
- Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to conduct formal interventions and training sessions and to interact effectively with client managers and all levels of personnel.
- Work requires skills in facilitating groups, communicating findings (oral and written), interviewing, negotiating, contracting, and writing action plans and performance contracts.
- Work requires excellent teamwork, ability to communicate clearly, and cooperation with other staff members to achieve overall organizational objectives. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Written and verbal).
