Meta is seeking a highly motivated team player with a passion for online intellectual property issues - with a particular focus on counterfeits and trademarks - to serve as Lead Counsel, IP. This role will tackle cutting-edge matters arising from content posted by users on Facebook, Instagram, and Meta's other services that may infringe third parties' intellectual property rights. The ideal candidate will have a background in user-generated content, intermediary liability, and counterfeit and trademark laws.
Required Skills
Lead/Associate General Counsel, IP & Content (Trademark/Counterfeit) Responsibilities:
- Particular responsibilities will include supporting the company's work building policies and technical systems to address counterfeit and trademark issues, engaging with rights holders, as well as advising on public policy and litigation matters. This is a great opportunity to work closely with a variety of cross-functional teams across the company, including operations, product, policy and other legal teams, and handle novel issues in an exciting and fast-past environment.
Minimum Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 5+ years of relevant experience with intellectual property and intermediary liability issues, from in-house or at a law firm
- Experience with online copyright, trademark, and counterfeit issues

- Experience handling work for internet platforms and/or tech companies
- Strong issue-spotting skills and experience to assess legal, practical and business risks
- Proven to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and execute on multiple priorities under tight deadlines
