The City of Peoria’s Streets Division is looking for a hard-working individual to fill the Lead Transportation Technician position in the Signs and Striping group. Candidates will perform journey level skilled activities and undertake quality control measures to ensure standards and regulations are met. This will require knowledge and ability to: produce and install street signs; apply pavement markings in a municipal setting; provide technical guidance through the review of signs and striping plans; assign and monitor work; and assist staff with complicated and difficult assignments.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A passion for working outdoors in the elements.
- A working knowledge of basic and advanced construction practices related to signs and road marking maintenance.
- A great attitude and the ability to work within a team structure, and perform solo tasks as required.
- May be required to possess a Class B or higher Commercial Driver License depending on assignment.

Other Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High school graduation or equivalency
- Experience: 2-4 years’ experience
- Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 and 50 pounds.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Must pass ATSSA Traffic Control Technician or IMSA Work Zone Safety
- May be required to pass ATSSA or IMSA signs and pavement marking courses.
- Depending on assignment, an employee may be required to have, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver's License with Tanker endorsement, or a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver's License with Tanker endorsement.
