About us

Guiding Lights Early Learning Center is located in Newnan, GA. We are looking to hire experienced teachers for our toddler classroom.

Hourly Pay Scale:

No experience $12

Experience only $13-$14

CDA/ TCC/ Degree $14-$15 an hour

We are hiring for the following shifts

Toddler (2 year olds) 6:15a-3:15p

Preschool (3-4 yr)- 7a-4p

Infant 6weeks-1 year 9:00a-6:00p

Part-Time Floaters

6:15a-12:15p

12:15p-6:15p

Lead Teacher Job Description

JOB CLASSIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS

Teacher must:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Have a high school degree or equivalent education
  • Must be able to perform adequately the job duties of providing for the care and supervision of the children enrolled in the Center in accordance with these rules
  • Never have been shown by credible evidence, e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation or other reliable evidence to have abused, neglected or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct. The Department may request an oral or written statement to this effect at the time of application or at any other time. Upon said request, the teacher/lead caregiver or Staff shall provide this statement to the Department
  • Not have made any material false statements concerning qualifications requirements either to the Department or to the proposed or current License Holder, Permit Holder or commission holder
  • Comply with the background check requirements as outlined in Rule 591-1-1-.09, Criminal Records and Comprehensive Background Checks
  • Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or obtain certification upon hire
  • Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a physician’s documentation of both
  • Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom
  • Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
  • Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
  • Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70lbs
  • Be available for full time employment and available to work as late as 6:30pm or as early as 6:00am
  • Have dependable transportation

REQUIRED EXPECTATIONS

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs
  • Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
  • Be a positive role model for all care giving staff and children
  • Be customer service orientated and professional
  • Timely and consistant attendance
  • Open and effective communication with families, children, co-workers, administration etc.
  • Respect of self, children, co-workers, administration, families served, center grounds, materials and property etc.
  • Provide excellent customer service according to the standards of Guiding Lights Early Learning Centers

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development
  • Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, diapering, hand washing etc.)
  • Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
  • Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren) in a professional and considerate manner
  • Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service
  • Creating and maintaining an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
  • Assist children during meals times, participate in family style dining within the classroom
  • Keep up to date record keeping within assigned classroom
  • Attend meetings and trainings as assigned (normally on Saturday's or after hours)
  • Submit required documentation as required and requested within a timely manner
  • Manage and maintain assigned deadlines
  • Supervise teacher aides/ co workers in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations
  • Train any teacher aides/ co-workers in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day
  • Plan daily activities/ lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for young children
  • Conduct child assessments and facilitate parent-teacher conferences
  • Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be on nights and/or weekends
  • Prepare monthly parent newsletters and weekly lesson plans according to policy
  • Be responsible for daily sheets and the daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, and diaper changing
  • Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times
  • Maintain a clean classroom which includes but is not limited to: cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, vaccum floors, wipe down tables and surfaces, disinfect toys and materials etc.
  • Flexible with job assignments or age groups assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:

Lead Teachers report directly to the Team Lead with any questions or concerns they have regarding the children, center policy etc. If personnel are not available at the time, they can report to the Center Director.

Please keep in mind that the above job description is meant to be a guideline and does not list in detail all of the job responsibilities of a Lead Teacher. All duties of the Lead Teacher position will be covered in orientation and during the “hands-on” portion of the position training.
