Position Summary
Under general direction provide high quality care and early education to children through an integrated curriculum, play-based experiences, and real-life, hands on learning opportunities. Supervision of children in Child Care activities and in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programs in a defined aged group classroom. Assume lead responsibility over the other Child Care staff in the classroom.
- Maintaining a safe, secure learning environment that is supportive of children’s growth, development and learning through age and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that are respectful and meets licensing and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
- Implements the program plan and provides the daily care, education, and supervision of children in the assigned area.
- Creating, preparing and implementing weekly lesson plans and daily activities that address social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas and demonstrate respect and support of diversity in language, culture, and learning styles that meet licensing and NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and hygienic environment for all children.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism by maintaining confidentiality of child and family information, adhering to policies and regulations, and maintaining professional communication with colleagues and supervisors.
- Observes, records, and reports individual and group behavior in an accurate and timely manner. Updates and maintains the NAEYC classroom portfolio for assigned group.
- Completes child progress reports as set by Director and maintains individual child portfolios.
- Plans and provides for sanitary, social, and positive meal and snack times for children in the assigned area.
- Complete accurate reports as directed (i.e. food program, accident reports, medication form, communication grams, etc.)
- Perform duties as assigned including vacuum, sweep and dust classrooms, label shelves, change materials, and remove and repair torn and broken items.
- Communicates daily with parents about their child in a positive, professional manner.
- Establish good working relationships with parents and facilitate the free flow of information about their child on a daily basis.
- Conduct routine parent conferences.
- Daily communication grams on the daily activities and weekly communication reports on each child.
- Directs Child Care workers, volunteers, and substitute staff in the care of children and provision of developmentally appropriate activities.
- Complete Teacher Assistant performance evaluations as directed.
- Meets with Director and/or Assistant Director as directed to develop monthly themes and review the curriculum
- Provides weekly lesson plans to the Assistant Director
- Participates in staff development and regular staff planning meetings to meet licensing and program requirements.

Required Education
Required Education: High school education or equivalent
Required Experience
Required Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in an organized Child Care setting.
