Crossroads Center for Children, located in Schenectady, NY, is looking to fill immediate openings for Lead Teacher Assistants. Lead TAs will assist the Special Education Teacher in the day to day operations of the classroom. We are looking for staff who are fun loving, life-long learners, committed, and determined to help students achieve their best. Crossroads serves students utilizing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. ABA is an empirically based science that is used to analyze the relationship between a child and their environment and improve socially significant behavior. We stress positively reinforcing appropriate behaviors and replacing challenging behaviors with functional communication. Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: A Lead Teacher Assistant must be able to consistently and successfully perform all essential functions of the position.
- Perform practices consistent with Crossroads Center for Children’s instructional philosophy.
- Assist in development and implementation of behavior plan(s) assessments and analysis.
- Participate in data collection and charting systems.
- Assist in the organization, presentation and function of the classroom.
- Participate in relevant meetings.
- Under the direction of the Special Education Teacher, implement programs aimed at assuring the mandates of each child’s IEP are fulfilled.
- In the absence of the special education teacher; ensure classroom day to day responsibilities are met.
- Assist related services staff in the generalization of skills.
- Assist in the training/development new staff
- Maintain the safety and well-being of all children in care.
- Participate in research related activities.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Assure that professional responsibilities are fulfilled
- Perform any other duties as requested by your supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – 1 year ABA experience, 2 years Special education experience, 20 college credit hours in a related field, or any combination .
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, etc.: Currently hold NYS teaching assistant certificate
