Job description

This position supports the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by accrediting training providers that instruct the residential renovation workforce and certifying that workforce to perform in a manner that prevents childhood lead poisoning.
The position will be under the Chief of the Lead Related Construction Unit (LRCU) within the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch. The HPS I will support the Chief in accrediting training providers and certifying individuals that comply with state and federal regulatory requirements for lead-related construction. The HPS I will develop and update regulations, courseware, and exams; perform training provider audits; and process applications for accreditation and certification. To perform these activities, the HPSI will need to apply detailed knowledge of complex regulatory requirements, understand processes for regulatory and policy changes, and properly handle fees. The HPS I will provide weekly progress reports to the HPM I, and draft quarterly, annual, and as-needed progress reports / meetings / presentations to funders. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, but not required. Moderate travel, up to 15% (including overnight trips), required.
Bring the License/Certification : Passage of the initial Lead-Related Construction Inspector Assessor and Supervisor courses within 9 months of employment is required as is biennial passage of the refresher for those courses. (NOTE - State certification in those disciplines is not required.)

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB) is a statewide program that provides a wide and complex array of secondary and primary prevention services to children with lead poisoning, lead exposure or at risk of lead exposure.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) will be used to pre-screen applicants for the HPS I position within the Center for Healthy Communities. The SOQ is a narrative discussion of the candidate's experience which qualifies them for this position. The SOQ must be no more than two pages in length, using 12-point Arial font. Candidates are also required to include a resume with their submission; however, please note resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the Statement of Qualifications.
