The Project Manager is the primary single point of contact for large-scale deployments with a single large customer. Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the customer's implementation to meet scope, timing and budget expectations and overall project outcomes. Running with OSP construction delivery for dark fiber deployment.
- Develop, plan and manage implementation of activities for highly complex projects/programs for external/internal customers throughout their lifecycle
- Accountable for timely project completion and delivery
- Analyzes work plans and schedules and develops project progress and status reports (including executive status updates)
- Responsible for resource requirements/allocation
- Coordinate and facilitate project meetings
- Develop and distribute timely meeting minutes, to include track/manage action items and verify they are incorporated into the program schedule and that deliverables are met on time
- Assess/Manage risk, impacts and potential alternatives and escalate as required to the appropriate level of management
- Familiar with optical fiber testing and delivery
- Able to read OTDR and PMT test results to identify events, such as connectors, splices, micro-bends, etc
- Can produce recommendations to Field Technicians and Outside Plant Engineers for improvements or modifications to resolve out-of-spec issues
- Should be able to provide similar instructions for improvement to the customer when customer has an issue
- Should be capable of reading and understanding KMZ and fiber maps
- Should understand different cable sizes and glass types along with buffer tubes and color schemes
- Knowledgeable with Outside Plant construction and splicing, including engineering, permitting, and boring, duct placement, cable pulling, splicing, and testing
- Acts as mentor and team leader to other teammates
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5+ years of related experience
- Implementation experience with multiple of the following technologies: DWDM, and Transport/Waves
- Experience leading multiple complex projects in the technology industry
- Background in OSP is a huge plus
