Eaton's IS VEH Power Connections division is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer - High Voltage. This position can be based at our Carol Stream, IL manufacturing facility or our Southfield, MI engineering & design center. Relocation assistance is available.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $88499.97 - $129799.96 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:
Position Overview: Lead Project Engineer - High Voltage will significantly contribute to a team of engineers, technicians, and multi-functional product development teams, responsible for the development of innovative High Voltage connector product and process solutions so solve customer pain points and market demands. In this role you will setup and lead critical product engineering processes to develop new High Voltage automotive connector product/process solutions.
Additional responsibilities:

  • You will be a part of a highly engaged and high performing product validation team aligned to achieve the following strategic initiatives: improved efficiency, equipment utilization, data acquisition, safety systems, and overall improved product performance and capability.
  • Lead technical development projects alongside a team of innovating engineering business partners to solve design, mechanical, electrical, and other product, equipment or process related problems.
  • Lead High Voltage product design sessions with terminal and connector engineering, promote collaborative environment with your team, peers, and manufacturing.
  • Guide the CAE team to develop best practices in developing High Voltage automotive connection systems.
  • Lead efforts in establishing design guidelines, validation guidelines, and industry-accepted best practices in developing High Voltage connection systems.
  • Interface with key stakeholders in program management and quality to ensure the completion of the engineering teams assigned tasks on time.
  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment, through diligence in accident prevention, equipment maintenance, and Zero Incident culture enforcement.
  • Responsible for the DFMEA, DVP, and APQP requirements for the High Voltage engineering department.
  • Lead the development and implementation of best-in-class products and efficiencies.
  • Receive regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to executive management to continually assess the career goals and development plan management will create for you.

Qualifications:
Basic (required) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in a new product development within an automotive manufacturing organization
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working directly with automotive High Voltage connector development teams with a demonstrated understanding of critical design features and studies
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, NVH, or electrical engineering; material science, or physics from an accredited institution
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience developing parts to automotive specifications like USCAR-2, USCAR-25, USCAR-37, USCAR-38, as well as other standards like DIN, ISO IEC, UL, etc.
  • Experience in High Voltage and Low Voltage connector and/or terminal development.
  • Experience working in the automotive industry specific to product development to exceed harsh environments (e.g., USCAR-2, T4V4S3 specifications)
  • Experience working with CAD software to create innovative, automotive connection systems (preferably NX or Solidworks).
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, etc.)
