Aegis General Insurance Agency is seeking a full-time Lead Program Underwriter to join its Lumber & Building Materials Division. This position is remote and will be based on the East Coast.

Job Summary
This underwriter will lead all underwriting activities for the Lumber and Building Materials Program, including NetRate rating, Reinsurance Portal rating, and other risk evaluation operations to write business for the program. Large property capacity, GL, and Excess rating and underwriting in house, plus WC and Auto partnering on a wholesale basis (and small auto program rollout later this year). Must know forms, coverages, extensions and exclusions, underwriting all lines of P&C insurance, be an excellent communicator, organized, experienced or well-trained, CPCU or other designations a plus. This underwriter will be working with experienced and respected industry veterans to build a national program with brokers and relationships all across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite all Property, GL and Excess risks on NetRate and our reinsurance partner portal
- Pre-underwrite and work with our companion carrier on WC coverage and pricing and rating
- Work with our auto carrier to put together coverage and pricing for our insureds
- Assemble and implement forms packages for our NetRate system and implement forms, coverages, extensions and exclusions for our policies with our carrier partner.
- Hire and train our next underwriters to be the underwriting team of our future
- Manage all underwriting, coverage tracking, risk assessment and aggregation of exposures in key locations
Required Skills/Abilities
- NetRate rating and policy issuance experience is a PLUS
- Risk Meter, Google Earth, 360Value Estimator and Silver Plume experience is a PLUS
- CPCU, ARe or other professional designations are a PLUS
- Minimum of 5 years of insurance underwriting experience
- Proficiency is Word, Excel and other Microsoft products necessary
Education/Experience
- College degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of insurance underwriting experience in multiline underwriting
- Expertise in 2 of the 5 major lines of coverage in P&C Underwriting (Prop, GL, Excess, WC or Auto)
Salary range: $75,000 - $100,000
