In this weekday only position, Lead Counselors of the Before/After School and Track Out programs provide support for school aged participants in a fun and active recreational setting, leading and participating with youth during passive and active camp games, assisting with homework, and completing additional program curriculum. Lead Counselors will also be responsible for supervising staff and communicating with program stakeholders. The ideal candidates will have a professional, flexible, and mature attitude, are skilled at communicating information effectively and enthusiastically, and enjoy taking initiative in a leadership capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and up to 1 year of work experience in a leadership position is required. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
Typical Qualifications
  • Provides direction and motivation for participants and staff in the program
  • Leads and participates in all activities with the participants
  • Communicates information effectively with coworkers and supervisors
  • Monitors participant safety and addresses behavior concerns when necessary
  • Documents and relays accident/incident information to the appropriate staff
  • Attends and participates in all required trainings, staff meetings and parent engagements

Positions of this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:Work is primarily performed in both an indoor office environment and outdoors.
