Job description

Summary

Yelp is used by millions of small and local businesses to manage their online presence. Local businesses are turning to Yelp because we’re uniquely positioned to help them to grow their business and reach their potential customers. Our Product and Engineering teams have partnered with local businesses to identify their needs and build innovative products and features to support them. Our commitment to connecting people with great local businesses has never been stronger.
We're seeking a seasoned Product Manager to spearhead the development of new products and features tailored specifically for local business owner acquisition. In this pivotal role, you'll take the lead in crafting innovative solutions that educate business owners on how Yelp can help them grow their business. This will include claiming their Yelp pages, setting up their online presence, and advertising their services.

The culture at Yelp is a unique environment combining the best parts of being at a startup with the stability and resources of a successful public company. You’ll have full ownership of the product area that you’re working on and will be able to make fast decisions in a highly collaborative environment. Your work will have a huge impact on Yelp and the local business community.

This opportunity is fully remote and does not require you to be located in any particular state within the US. We welcome applicants from throughout the US. We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes.

What you'll do:

  • Listen to local business wants and needs, identify, analyze, and prioritize products and solutions to help small and local business owners get started on Yelp.
  • Develop a product roadmap and write functional product requirements in collaboration with marketing, design, biz ops, and engineering teams, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Manage the product development cycle of define / build / release / measure end-to-end.
  • Evangelize new features and drive alignment with executives, sales, business development, go-to-market teams, and other stakeholders at Yelp.
  • Own launches that directly impact Yelp’s bottom line.

What it takes to succeed:

  • Experience Working with Small Business Owners: Understanding the unique challenges, needs, and pain points of small business owners will be crucial in developing effective solutions.
  • Customer Passion: You must have a genuine drive for understanding and addressing the needs of our customers. This means being able to translate customer wants and needs into actionable product features that drive value and satisfaction.
  • Business Acumen and Metrics-Driven Approach: You should be comfortable using data to identify opportunities, measure success, and optimize product performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams, including Marketing, Engineering, Design, Business Operations, and Go-to-Market teams. You'll be responsible for moving projects forward, influencing the roadmap, and driving alignment of various cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: You should be a strategic thinker with a knack for making sense of complex data and offering creative solutions to overcome obstacles. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to lead the team towards clarity amidst uncertainty will be invaluable.
  • Background: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required to excel in this position.

What you'll get:

  • Compensation range is $145,000 - $315,000 annually. Depending on your role and level, you may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
  • This opportunity has the option to be fully remote in all locations across the US.
  • You can find more information about Yelp's five star benefits here!
