National Grid is hiring a Lead Planner, Outage Planningfor our Outsourced Construction division in Worcester, MA. This is a hybrid role (MA, CT, RI, NH, VT, ME) with visits to the office approximately 1-2 times a week.

Job Purpose

To lead the development and delivery of outage plans to minimize risk and ensure overall security.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review the established project outage assessments & requirements as outlined in project engineering scope documents and construction plans.
  • Organize an outage kick-off meeting at the site, or in conjunction with other planned site visits, along with various follow-up meetings to establish scope, conceptual work plan and schedule.
  • Coordinate outage requirements with other area outage requests to resolve and minimize any outage conflicts. Confirm the plan alignment with other on-going projects within and outside of National Grid.
  • Provide Outage Plan and Drawings, including Visio & Excel sheets.
  • Confirm plan alignment and feasibility with Transmission & Distribution Outage Coordination.
  • Work with the project team to facilitate development of viable emergency restoration measures and plans along with realistic restoration time estimates.
  • Review outage plan with all stakeholders (iterative process) and ultimately seek out team approval.
  • Upon project plan approval, distribute detailed outage plan for TOA development and submittal.
  • Ensure timely plan submission according to the Outage Coordination Playbook and Transmission Operating Procedure TOP-08.
  • Monitor and control the outage plan. Manage changes for sudden or unexpected events which may require re-sequencing and re-submittal of the Approved Outage Plan for re-approval and TOA modifications.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on achieving outcomes and building relationships, both internally and externally to execute tasks and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an engineering, construction or business discipline and/or 5 to 8 years significant equivalent experience in the electricity construction management environment with 3 to 5 years in the utility management.
  • Experience in construction with focus on construction methods, cost control, safety, environmental, quality and service, and performance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Safety and Environmental rules.
  • Ability to assess potential conflicts by reviewing construction drawings and provide solutions to the project team.
  • Must be able to work in a cross functional role to develop a construction plan with inputs from the various operations groups, project management, engineering, and dispatch control room.
  • Analytical Thinking: Sees relationships between work plans, safety issues, constructability, and spend vs. efficiency reports identifying several likely causes or consequences of a situation.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in the following areas: Written and oral communications, including developing and executing communications through various mediums including verbal presentations, emails, PowerPoint, conference calls, and other appropriate methods
  • Organization and management of multiple tasks / priorities to deliver high results
  • Displays commitment to safe and productive work environment through consistent actions, beliefs and personal conduct.

Salary: $111,000 - $141,700 a year
