Position: Associate Pastor– Part-Time – Salaried Position – Average time requirement is 16 hours a week.
Capital Bible Church is seeking a servant leader for the position as Associate Pastor with initial focus on developing a successful Christ centered child youth and young adult ministry. The Associate Pastor will collaborate with the Pastor and Elders, and provide leadership to recruit, train and support volunteers for these ministries. The growth path for this position is to become a co-pastor and subsequently a new Lead Pastor. The timetable for the successful transition and succession of this plan will be under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The successful candidate should be a mature well-adjusted person who possesses strong administrative and interpersonal skills as a God-driven passion for serving God’s church.
Key Responsibilities:
Function as the spiritual leader of Capital Bible Church Children, Youth and Young Adult programs.
Assess and select appropriate teaching materials and curriculum
Provide Bible-based instruction along with appropriate teaching materials and curriculum
Provide support and recruit youth volunteers for Church Programming including (but not limited to) annual Vacation Bible School, Awana, Sunday School, Nursery, Young Adult Outreach programs and classes.
Teach Youth Sunday School, Small Groups and weekly group meetings
Recruit and train adults to be Youth Sunday School Teachers, Small Group Leaders, and volunteers
Provide outreach, missions, and fellowship opportunities to the Youth and Young Adult programs
Provide support and guidance to parents
QUALIFICATIONS:
PERSONAL: Because of the need and desire to reach younger families the Associate Pastor must be someone who can relate to all age groups. He must have the ability to minister to people of all ages both inside and outside of the church.
CHRISTIAN WALK: The Associate Pastor must be a growing disciple of Jesus Christ and a mature believer who has known the Lord a long time for many years; someone whose life clearly manifests the fruit of a vital relationship with Him. He must be someone with a faithful, available teachable spirit who is able to learn the composition and make-up of CBC. He must be able to patiently wait for God’s timing with the Elders and Pastor Bill as they seek to transition the church from the leadership of the current Elders and Founder to the leadership of a new lead pastor and leadership team who will continue to carry on and expand and grow the vision and ministry of CBC for the next 20 - 25 years.
SPIRITUAL GIFTS: Gifts of pastor/teacher, evangelism, and administration are strongly preferred.
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: 1. A bachelor’s degree or greater is strongly preferred. 2. Significant academic training in Bible, theology, and/or youth ministry is strongly preferred. 3. Prior experience in church or para-church ministry is also preferred.
THEOLOGICAL: 1. Subscribes to the Capital Bible Church doctrinal statement 2. Fully committed to the truth of God’s Word, as well as being able to clearly articulate those truths. 3. A soul winner who knows Jesus died for the whole world, not just the elect. 4. A preacher who knows how and is not afraid to give an invitation to trust Christ as Savior after preaching.
RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Must satisfy the biblical requirements of an elder as found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, and Titus 2:7-8. 2. A married candidate should possess a healthy relationship with his spouse and children. 3. Candidates must be above reproach in all relationships.
