Lead Java Systems Engineer

Position Overview:
Client Financials Technology team builds innovative software solutions that support one of the leading floor covering companies in the world. We are looking for a Lead Java Systems Engineer to become an integral part of our world-class applications development team.
In this role, you will work closely with the development leads, business partners, and other developers/teams architecting solutions to solve real-world business problems. This includes meeting with Business Users, assessing business needs, evaluating innovative technologies, and documenting system requirements.

The position will be at Client corporate headquarters located in North Georgia but is eligible for remote working.
Responsibilities:

• Lead in the research and evaluation of innovative technologies to decide the value of their use to meet the needs of corporate information functions.
• Participate in the evaluation of software packages from specialty software vendors, resulting in a decision to either purpose such software, or develop using company resources.
• Review finished product to assure quality and conformance to requirements, assuring applicable standards are followed, and proper documentation has been created.
• Work with and guide project team members to develop project plans, identify tasks, aide in the prioritization and scheduling of tasks to be performed.
• Work with project team members to review project schedule, evaluate workload and make resource recommendations to ensure adequate staffing.
• Serve as Mentor/Coach for junior/senior engineers and developers
• Write detailed descriptions of program functions and steps needed to develop or change application logic.
• Develop and support application program logic to be used in the creation of new software programs or for the enhancement of existing software programs.
• Prepare documentation as required by Turnover Control to implement new or enhanced systems into a production environment.
• Participate as an active member in a team-based environment as well as the ability to work independently with reliability and integrity.

• Monitor and provide leadership in associate development, education, and training.
• Participate in performance appraisals for project team members.

• Possess an IT four-year college degree or a minimum of six years of experience in a medium-to-large Information Services environment developing and implementing web applications
• Possesses a strong working knowledge of standard programming languages/platforms/technologies - most notably Java/JEE, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Material, rxjs, HTTP with Angular, OpenShift (containerized environments), Cloud Architecture, i.e. Azure, SOAP & REST services, Thorntail/Quarkus/Spring Boot, DevOps (including Jenkins / Git).
• Possesses a strong working knowledge of relational database (including experience with SQL, Stored Procedures, and JDBC)
• Proficient in current technology concepts including, but not limited to, UI/UX, Software Development Methodologies (Agile/Waterfall), and Frontend technology focused on reactive and functional programming
• Experience architecting complete end-to-end systems
• Possesses the ability to analyze and document problems and requirements that are understandable at all levels
• Experience in leading software development projects and project planning
• Possesses above average written and oral communication skills.
• The ideal candidate has proven the ability to work in a fast-paced development environment, including participation in several medium to large scale projects at once, and has the demonstrated ability to learn innovative technologies quickly and from scratch. Possesses excellent work habits, organizational skills and time-management skills, including the ability to work well with others. Possesses the ability to take initiative, keep promises, honor commitments, and take responsibility for own actions or mistakes.
