Lead the educational care and development of a specific classroom by implementing all components of the Quality Preschool Initiative, and Early Head Start as defined in the Program requirements. Supervise all Instructional Assistants (IA's) and perform tasks required to support High Quality learning for all students, parents & extended families. Collaborate with children, staff & families to assure High Quality early childhood education - Maintaining a ITERS score of 6 or higher and a CLASS score of Emotional Support - 5.5, Instructional Support - 3.5 & Classroom organization - 5.5 Insure your center maintains our current rating of Tier 5 in Pinwheel.
Summary of essential job functions:
- Responsible for planning & implementing a rich curriculum which incorporates The Infant/Toddler Creative Curriculum, and PITC Curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for using the CLASS tool to guide intentional teaching and meaningful engagement. The teacher will be responsible for creating and maintaining the specific interest centers including Science, Math, Literacy & Language, Dramatic Play, Block Play, Sensory Play, Reading Corner & Soft Places for relaxing using ITERS guidelines.
- Responsible to insure daily Classroom cleanliness that meets with all Health & Safety Guidelines as defined within ITERS & the External Health & Safety review. Responsible to delegate cleaning routines to IA support staff.
- Responsible to support the Site Director to insure compliance with all Licensing regulations, agency policies and procedures and the Education Code as applicable. Reference CA Code of Regulations, Title 22 Sections 101215 and 101215.1, and Title 5.
- Responsible to insure the accurate maintenance of classroom records including, but not limited to, written attendance, CACFP Meal Counts, Ouch Reports, Lesson Plans, curriculum, child observations (ASQ & DRDP), DRDP Tech, Learning Genie, Pinwheel, and parent training & communication.
Requirements
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in ECE/CD (or closely related field) + Teacher's Permit or higher
- OR Master's Degree in ECE/CD (or closely related field)
- OR BA/MA + Teaching Credential
- OR BA/MA + Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit
- OR Associates degree in ECE/CD + Teacher Permit
AND
- 3 Infant/Toddler ECE units
AND
- 21 hours of professional development annually
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work at various locations, as needed.
• Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds to support children.
• Ability to bend and squat to interact with children.

Health Status:
Must have a physical examination and TB clearance as required by state and federal regulations and a drug screen by a doctor/clinic designated by Children's Paradise prior to the first day of employment.
Background Clearance:
All positions are subject to a background/education check, DMV check, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources. Note: California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client. Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.
