Urgently Hiring
Katherine Michiels School is in our 5th decade at the forefront of child-centered EDUCATION, and we love what we do. In the heart of the Mission District, in a stunning multi-story Victorian with our own surrounding outdoor space including garden, maker shed, teaching kitchen, dance studio and more. We enter every day with joy and a spirit of exploration. We strive to learn deeply about ourselves, our community, and our world, and we explore these with each other in a spirit of co-creation, equity, and joyful inquiry. Our teachers are skilled, engaging, and passionate—they are experienced designers extraordinaire— and they also know that sometimes stepping back and getting out of the way is the best way to support learning.
TEACHER FOR INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM
The Katherine Michiels School (KMS) Infant/Toddler program is looking for a bright, energetic part time Teacher Aid for our progressive INFANT/TODDLER PROGRAM of 15 children (which is strongly influenced by the Reggio-Emilia model) who will work cooperatively with the preschool program.
KMS's program provides a safe and nurturing environment for children between the ages of 3 months to 2 years, supervised by highly qualified teachers. Because a child's core self begins to emerge at this age, our programs focus on building the emotional security necessary to develop a balanced sense of self.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for a person to work with the Infant/Toddler agegroup alongside our team. Our ideal candidate is a team player who has a sense of respect and partnership with coworkers, parents and the children. They would be someone who can stimulate independent thinking, ignite creativity and empower children to make good choices. One who can teach children to be compassionate and collaborative with others and focus on “asking vs. telling”.
