Job Description Technology - Item Cloud Team
100% Remote (working EST) ~ Hybrid ~ On-site
The Team:
The Item Cloud Blue team is committed to building and driving innovation for internal-facing web applications that support College Board's core products. Our team consists of 2 small squads, each of which owns a unique, data-intensive, high-impact, single-page web application that represents our internal content creation processes. We build everything serverless, in the cloud, leveraging current technologies and novel techniques to be a force-multiplier for the programs we serve. We are remote, but close-knit. We often accomplish our work through paired or mob programming. We are outcome-oriented, putting a premium on quality and efficiency. We use Agile scrum to manage our work and deliver value regularly following a DevOps model. The impact of our efforts as creative problem-solvers and idea-generators leads to innovations and dramatic improvements in College Board's biggest program applications, serving millions of students to help them take ownership of their future.
The Opportunity:
As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you are a skilled technologist and problem-solver. You possess extensive knowledge and expertise designing, implementing, and testing performant and fault-tolerant serverless and container-based apps executing in the cloud. You have experience modernizing legacy applications. You are energized by collaboration with teammates and a desire to stay abreast of new technologies. These traits along with your ability to learn quickly enable you to work harmoniously as you apply innovative, cloud-based solutions within College Board's Technology group. Experience with modernizing legacy applications through various frameworks/methodologies.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead the design and implementation, in collaboration with team members, data-intensive, highly secure, primarily React-based components.
  • Solve complex problems using divergent thinking resulting in innovative solutions.
  • Follow DevOps best practices including continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practice of rapidly implementing, testing, and delivering high-quality code.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our customer's business processes and operations.
  • Mentor and help other engineers in their growth.
  • Support team-centered, Agile software development.

About you, you have:
  • 5+ years' experience building, testing, and managing web-based applications.
  • At least 4 years of recent, strong, hands-on experience with a combination of JavaScript/TypeScript, and / or Python.
  • Expertise working within the AWS cloud ecosystem, including resources such as Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Step Functions, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, DynamoDB.
  • Skilled in DevOps and automated testing initiatives.
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in computer science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems.
  • User and mission oriented.

The salary range for a new employee in this position is $158,000-$173,000 per year. The salary offer of an individual candidate within this range is specific to their location and qualifications.
