Job Summary:
As a Lead Estimator at Almers Construction Inc., you will play a pivotal role in our projects from bidding to project completion, ensuring accurate and competitive proposals for construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction processes from start to finish, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to lead a functional team in producing comprehensive bid proposals.
- Lead and oversee the estimating process for pipeline construction projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in bids. Projects include civil construction, excavation, ground prep, concrete foundation work, and underground piping.
- Take a project from pre-construction estimating and overseeing through completion as Project Management to ensure ongoing success of the project.
- Collaborate with project managers, foreman, engineers, and other stakeholders to review project plans, specifications, and requirements.
- Analyze project scope, materials, labor, and other factors to develop accurate cost estimates and proposals.
- Prepare detailed take-offs, quantities, and pricing for pipeline construction, including projects ranging from 2' to 24' diameter pipe installs and services.
- Utilize industry-standard software and tools to create and organize estimates, including spreadsheets, databases, and specialized estimating software.
- Research and gather data on scheduling, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and other cost components to ensure thorough and accurate estimates.
- Present and defend estimates to clients, addressing any questions or concerns to ensure understanding and confidence in the proposal.
- Coordinate with procurement and operations teams to ensure alignment between estimates, budgets, and project execution plans.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements to inform estimating decisions and strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including bid documents, correspondence, and historical data for future reference.
- Following up on all missed estimate appointments promptly.
- Mostly working in the office and communicating strongly with Field Foreman teams onsite.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Estimating for pipeline construction projects, with proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management for pipeline construction projects, with proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret project plans and specifications accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently.
- Knowledge of pipeline construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
- Experience in the piping industry, including oil and gas line building.
