Job Description
Our Evansville, IN Engineering team is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our highly innovative engineering teams designing Autonomous Solutions for mobile equipment in the surface mining industry.
As a Lead Electrical Engineer you will lead all hardware related initiatives including but not limited to reviewing/approving electrical drawings, conducting electrical analysis, specifying new devices, and maintaining bill of materials for Autonomous Solutions products. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all hardware related inquiries for the Autonomous Solutions group
- Review and approve electrical drawings, remove roadblocks for designers and drafters
- Conduct hardware obsolescence planning
- Maintain bill of materials and other relevant technical documentation
- Improve existing electrical designs based on data and customer feedback
- Lead various electrical tests and analysis related to power, EMI, and EMC
- Create design standards and procedures for Autonomous Solutions group
- Research, select, and develop new pieces of hardware for electrical subsystems
- Interface with a global team of engineers and product support resources to successfully complete tasks
- Participate in Engineering design reviews
- Apply all safety procedures and use proper safety equipment as needed
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment at all times
Key Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, [or] an equivalent combination of education and/or direct applicable experience
- 3+ years’ experience reviewing and approving electrical drawings
- 1+ years’ experience utilizing tools and software packages to conduct various tests on assemblies
Assets:
- Previous experience with industrial and mobile equipment automation
- Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault experience
- PE license
- Prior experience creating design and drafting standards
- Prior experience with electrical compliance, such as IEC 61000
- Ability to use tools such as software based analysis packages, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, dial calipers, and multimeters
- Prior experience with hardware such as GPS, Lidar, PLCs, PCs, and low voltage power systems
- Familiarity with the Agile execution model and methodologies
- Familiarity with Jira
- Familiar with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – ability to explain complex defects and designs in simple high-level terms
