Job description

Meta seeks a highly motivated attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential to connect businesses and people to join our Monetization Legal Team. The position will focus on providing strategic legal counseling to internal product, engineering, operations, and business teams in connection with Meta's Business Messaging products across Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. The role will work closely with other subject matter experts within the legal department and will require significant cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders across Meta. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.

Lead Counsel, Monetization (Business Messaging) Responsibilities:
  • Analyze products, policies and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
  • Provide product, engineering, and other business teams with legal advice across many subject areas including data protection laws and regulations, international competition law, intellectual property laws, and other global legal frameworks
  • Help drive consensus and coordinate with public policy, partnerships, communications and other cross-functional teams on multi-disciplinary issues
  • Work cross functionally with attorneys from other legal teams such as privacy, regulatory, commercial and litigation

Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)
  • Experience working independently and cross-functionally
  • Experience working on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in-house at a technology company
  • Experience working with enterprise tools, developer platforms, messaging services or other Internet technologies
  • Experience advising clients on risk mitigation across technology product platforms
  • Experience in product counseling and data protection related international frameworks
