Job description

The Johns Hopkins Hospital Vascular Access Team (VAT) is composed of experienced RNs from various clinical backgrounds who work together to provide exceptional care to adult and pediatric patients. As a consulting service for The Johns Hopkins Hospital, we provide assessments, management and education of all things Vascular Access. Our four distinct services are: adult VAT, pediatric VAT, adult PICCs and pediatric PICCs. We train our nurses to place IVs, midlines, and PICC lines; manage routine and complex central line dressings; and provide emergent access as part of the code response team. We work closely together, relying on our unique skills to provide excellent service in a team-oriented environment.
The Lead Clinical Nurse provides guidance and direction to staff and acts in the absence of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager to oversee a clinical team during care delivery and unit operations.
Shifts: Permanent Day Shift; Some weekend work required

Qualifications :
  • BSN/MSN from an accredited nursing program
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license
  • VA-BC or CRNI certification maintained or obtained within 1 year of hire
  • BLS CPR certification
  • 3 years of acute care RN work experience
  • VAT experience required
  • Ability to lead others, assist in development & implementation of procedures for the unit, use principles of conflict resolution, recommend resource utilization, and implement performance management of staff.
