Duties: Design and guide others in the design of complex Carborne signaling systems by applying and adapting Alstom Carborne products and follow related company/customer requirements, standards, and specifications. Lead Carborne design activities for projects including functional management of Carborne engineers on the project. Lead and create architectures and associated documentation for Carborne solutions. Lead and create system and subsystem requirement specifications, as well as interface documents for Carborne solutions. Identify and analyze gaps between product capabilities and Carborne system requirements. Act as interface between product development and project engineering. Establish mentor/mentee relationship with junior and senior engineers and provide technical direction through mentoring on multiple projects. Lead Carborne system bids including manpower and material estimates. Maintain system design artifacts in their area of responsibility, utilizing Alstom Configuration and Documentation Management Standards. Lead technical system discussions directly with customer and represent/protect the company interests. Interface with internal/external contacts to include vendors, subcontractors, and prime contractors on technical matters. Contribute to generating schedule and budget for Carborne system work as required. Maintain project related files, documents, and revision control of documents under their direct control. Support application engineers in troubleshooting problems identified during factory and field test providing possible technical solutions to minimize impact. Keep abreast of technologies used by the company and industry to remain current and prepared for technology changes within the work environment. Travel to the customer site to assist T&C in performing field test and commissioning of systems. Provide system input for CRs during change control board meetings.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Position requires experience with:
- Train Signaling Onboard systems, including creating complex system architectures, subsystem requirements, defining internal and external interfaces, field testing and commissioning, and in-the-field troubleshooting;
- Applying safety principles in the design of Fail-Safe Train Signaling Onboard systems;
- Using IBM DOORS for requirement management;
- Rail signaling products knowledge;
- Functional, operational, and constructional analysis using SysML and modelling tools;
- Developing Interface Control Documents and Interconnect Diagrams;
- Using Starteam and Clearquest tools for change and configuration management; and
- Using ENOVIA and CLAMP for creating Bill of Materials for Onboard Systems.
Position requires up to 20% travel (domestic and international).
