As the Law Clerk, under the direction and supervision of the General Counsel, you assist in protecting A Real Estate Management Company's legal interest and maintaining A Real Estate Management Company's operations within the scope established by law.The Law Clerk's responsibilities span across the following practice areas and aspects of A Real Estate Management Company business: Landlord Tenant, Corporate & Contracts Law, General Liability and Employment Law through the execution of related activities under the direction and supervision of the General Counsel.

Job Description:
Landlord Tenant:
- Prepares correspondence related to eviction and other tenant issues
- Researches, develops, and implements process to enforce Civil Judgments
- Assists in the application process and approval related to service animals/pets and reasonable accommodation requests
- Assists in all Fair Housing and Housing Authority Claims
- Works with Regional Managers and Community Managers on resident situations to avoid legal escalation
- Works on various projects as directed by the General Counsel
- Reviews, revises, updates, and, as necessary, assists in the preparation of:
- Corporate policies
- A Real Estate Management Company lease changes
- A Real Estate Management Company notices
- Regulatory Changes
- Contracts and agreements, including tenant and vendor contracts
- Assists in addressing property related notices received from the Cities of Los Angeles, Santa Clarita, Upland, Ontario, and Ventura regarding property related notices received
- Assists in training company staff on legal issues and how to handle different situations
- Works on various projects as directed by the General Counsel
- Assists in addressing claims both small and large
- Researches, develops, and implements process for On-Site Staff to file renter's insurance claims against tenant policies
- Assists with A Real Estate Management Company property damage / bodily injury claims brought residents, guests, and other third parties
- Assisting in all phases of litigation, including investigation, discovery and compilation of necessary information and documents
- Works on various projects as directed by the General Counsel

Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school or currently enrolled in accredited law school
- Possess a general understanding of general liability insurance
- Excellent oral/written communication skills are mandatory
- Sharp attention to detail is essential
- Advanced user familiarity with computer applications, word processing, databases, and spreadsheets (intermediate MS Office Suite)

Physical Requirements:
- If necessary, must be able to regularly travel to multiple property locations daily/weekly/monthly within assigned portfolio as well as company meetings and conferences
- Frequently move/traverse, ascend/descend stairs in/around apartment homes and community
- Constantly positions self to bend, stoop, reach, lift
- Occasionally lift/move/carry up to 25lbs with/without assistance
- Frequently lift/move/carry 5lbs
- Constantly communicate, converse and exchange information with coworkers, vendors, residents, and visitors
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
- Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Constantly operates computer, 10-key and other office productivity machinery
