Laundry Attendant

Position Overview:

To provide for the efficient and accurate processing and cleaning of all hotel linen, uniforms, and related articles in order to provide a high quality product for our guests and employees.

Essential Functions:

• Shakes and sorts linen prior to washing to ensure maximum cleaning.
• Hand folds all linen in a timely manner. Stocks linen on pre-established shelves.
• Sets washers and dryers on proper cycles and times. Removes articles promptly.
• Processes cleaning of bedspreads and blankets Assist in inventories and dispensing of linens.
• Processes new linens.
• Cleans and maintains laundry equipment and work area on a daily basis. Reports any malfunctions, supply shortages or safety hazards to supervisor as necessary.
• Examines and pulls damaged or stained linen and handles according to reclaim procedures. Disposes of unsalvageable linen appropriately.
• Assists in inventory of linen and other supplies.
• Answers phone, relays messages and responds efficiently and courteously to guest requests.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meeting is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to full comply with Regency Hotel Management rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Qualifications:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education: Eighth grade education preferred.

Experience: Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and guests.
• Ability to learn and apply hazardous chemical, bloodborne pathogen training.
• Basic ability to comprehend, write, and communicate in the English language.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to push or pull carts and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, crouch, stoop, and push or pull for extended periods of time.
