Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our team. As a Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring that all laundry is properly cleaned, dried, folded, and re-stocked in a timely manner. This position is well-suited for individuals with experience particularly within a hotel setting but it is not required.
Duties:
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and re-stock laundry items according to established procedures
- Inspect garments for stains or damages and treat them appropriately
- Operate laundry equipment such as washers and dryers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of clean laundry
- Handle customer inquiries and requests regarding laundry services
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in laundering or a similar role is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of different fabrics and their appropriate care methods
- Ability to operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail to ensure garments are properly cleaned
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Good communication skills to interact with customers and team members
Laundry Attendant-Full Time
Essential Job Functions:
- Sort/separate, wash, dry, fold, and stock shelves of a varying type and count of hotel linen daily.
- Cleans, prepares, and maintains our public common areas (when necessary) and laundry area, per our Americas Best Value Inn standards and follows trained procedure at all times.
- Vacuums and/or mops floors while removing all debris within our laundry and common areas.
- Services public and employee bathrooms by cleaning the basins, and toilets when necessary.
- Washes floor and all mirror surfaces as well as emptying trash cans.
- Dusts, disinfects, and polishes all hard surfaces to a quality sheen using appropriate cleaning agents.
- Visually inspects under/around objects.
- Ensures placement of all amenities according to the Americas Best Value Inn standards and procedures.
- Replaces and restocks all items provided for guest use within common areas.
- Inspects working condition of all amenities provided within common areas.
- Performs regular maintenance of their assigned vacuum cleaner weekly.
- Reports promptly any defects, scuffs, and fabric damage including equipment and light bulbs to proper manager, and ensures it is correctly logged.
- Stocks, organizes and maintains service closets and carts according to standards and procedures before, during and after shift.
- Participates in special cleaning projects as required.
- Assists with housekeeping/room attendant duties periodically.
- Looks for and turns in all “lost and found” articles from common areas, while recording them to the “lost and found” area.
- Ensures furnishings in common areas are placed correctly and neat in appearance/condition.
- Protects the property of Americas Best Value Inn by recording any irregularities throughout the hotel, in terms of furnishings and decorative items, then reports such records to a supervisor immediately.
- Inspects areas upon cleaning by touch, sight, sound, and smell and ensures area is thoroughly cleaned and ready for use.
- Completes paperwork neatly, thoroughly, and accurately, including correct date, room number, name and signature.
- Works productively and efficiently with or without supervision when performing routine tasks.
- Prioritizes and meets deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Adheres to Americas Best Value Inn Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance while maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other staff.
- Presents him/herself in a friendly and professional manner in all interactions with guests, co-workers and other departments.
- Answers guest questions with accurate information and demonstrate a friendly and helpful personality by smiling, eye contact, initiating conversation, and engaging with others.
- Speaks, reads, and writes the English language and communicates in a clear and congenial manner, with our guests, visitors, and colleagues. Listens to verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
- Reaches with hands and arms, bends, kneels, stoops, twists and flexes arms, walks up and down stairs, sits, climbs up/down ladders, or stands for up to 3-4 hours at a time. Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Lifts up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level and can carry a distance of up to 35 feet with/ without assistance.
- Maneuvers carts safely with loads up to 300 pounds, through passageways.
- Sees close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
