- Knowledge and background of office procedures and finance.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Financial Aid or related field preferred.
- AAS degree in a finance-related field preferred.
- Strong computer skills including using a variety of software programs (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases) required. Experience with specialized student financial assistance programs and student information systems a plus.
- Ability to work independently using excellent organizational skills while coordinating multiple projects at one time with accuracy.
- Ability to learn, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. A demonstrated ability to relate to diverse populations of students, parents, and staff is required. Must enjoy working as part of a team.
- Bi-lingual a plus.
- National Career Readiness Certificate level Bronze or higher a plus.
REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Aid, Director of Student Services, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise prospective, new, and current students and their families on the Financial Aid process and assist them in completing the FAFSA.
- Develop a default management program to educate our current students. Contact former students who are at risk of defaulting on their student loans to explain options available to them and assist them in contacting their Direct Loan Servicer.
- Coordinate the Federal Work Study program.
- Communicate with the Lake Area Technical College Foundation Office to coordinate student scholarships.
- Perform verification of Financial Aid files.
- Award and re-award Financial Aid applicants.
- Assist with certifying VA educational benefits, as well as working with National Guard tuition assistance program.
- Assist in conducting Financial Aid Information Nights and Financial Literacy events.
- Perform tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month classified position with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
