Wilson Nurseries & Plant Co. is Kentucky's largest nursery with a large selection of houseplants, potted plants, bulbs, trees, and seasonal items.
An excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, energetic, skilled individual who desires to grow & be hands-on building and creating landscapes with Kentucky's largest nursery. The landscape crew leader/foreman manages, leads, and works alongside landscape crews in all aspects from start to finish on job sites as well as on-site grounds and landscape design/build projects for Wilson Nurseries in Frankfort & Lexington.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, the ability to drive trucks & trailers and be proficient in the operation of landscape equipment including skid steer, toro dingo, tillers, edger equipment, chainsaw, power hedge trimmers & string trimmers.
Skills & Requirements
- Excellent time management and supervisory skills. The foreman and crew leaders implement efficiencies such as cost controls, organization, job planning, and attention to detail in all aspects.
- Must have leadership skills to train, develop, and manage a team to complete projects within deadlines and set budgets.
- Must have the ability to install and manage landscape installation from a professionally drafted design.
- Has a fundamental and workable knowledge of plants.
- Communication skills with the crew, project managers, and with customers.
- Able to interact professionally and take direction from designers.
- Awareness of Before You Dig (BUD) markings and adherence to warnings.
- Proficiency with equipment (skid steer, dingo/toro, tillers, edgers, etc...)
- Ability to read a landscape design, transpose measurements from design to ground, spacing, and setting, turning plants properly.
Job Duties
- Supervises landscape laborers and installers to minimize time spent on jobs while maximizing the quality of work and efficiency.
- Oversees quality control on jobs.
- Responsible for overseeing smaller crew leaders, identifying and fixing problems.
- Moves ahead to upcoming jobs for the purpose of measuring, spraying, planning.
- Reviews jobs with customers.
- Assists designers in the bidding process.
- Uphold company policies from all perspectives including breaks, lunches, uniforms.
- Attends daily/weekly meetings with designers and management to plan and improve the department.
- Responsible for keeping fuel logs accurately and completely.
- Responsible for keeping track of billable hours and other efficiency-based logs.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of tools.
- Trains crew members regarding properly planting techniques.
- Makes on-site adjustments and does change orders when appropriate.
- Makes certain that plant material is loaded properly, fully, and that loaded plant material is of appropriate quality, specification size
- Maintains inventory of materials/equipment, safety equipment, on trucks and available for jobs.
- Performs basic maintenance on vehicles.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
