Lake Quinault is located just off Highway 101 on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. Drive 42 miles north of Aberdeen, or 120 miles south of Port Angeles through Forks. The Olympic National Park ocean beaches at Kalaloch are only 35 miles away. Lake Quinault is a three-hour drive from Seattle, or three-and-a-half-hour drive from Portland, Oregon. The area is rich in natural history and offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. Here you will find glacier-carved lakes and ancient rain forests filled with towering trees and wildlife. Camping, hiking, nature walks, boating, swimming and world renowned steelhead fishing are just some of the choices available. A twenty-five-mile loop drive around Lake Quinault will take you through the mossy old growth forests of towering trees and lush green forests that are home to a variety of birds and animals. The K-12 Lake Quinault School District, serves the communities of Amanda Park, Quinault, Neilton and Humptulips, all located along Highway 101. The district also serves the high school students from the neighboring K-8 Queets-Clearwater School District.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Performance Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of and/or experience related to the state mandated testing and assessment.
• Be able to work with parents on the educational needs of their students.
• Helping students build decision-making skills and recognize and value diversity.
• Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
• Plans and implements appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate principles of learning, classroom organizational structures, and kind and level of materials that provide appropriate learning experiences for each student.
• Develops, adapts, modifies, and individualizes educational materials, resources, techniques, methods, and strategies to meet the needs of students within the curriculum framework.
• Assumes direct responsibility for the development of appropriate behavior of students within the school setting by establishing and maintaining effective discipline and management procedures.
• Manages the behavior of learners in instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process and assists and participates in management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds.
• Coordinates instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff both school and non-school based, as required to maximize learning opportunities.
• Use district adopted curriculum and assessments.
• Utilizes a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and technology to enhance learning.
• Requests assistance of and works with resource personnel as needed.
• Participates in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
• Continually assesses student achievement and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
• Ensures continuous communication with parents or guardians, both written and oral, to keep them informed of a student (s) progress.
• Provides age-appropriate communication with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
• Ensures classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe and conducive to learning and that materials are in good condition and accessible to students.
• Monitors student behavior in non-instructional areas as assigned or required and intervenes to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to administrator as appropriate.
• Collaborates with other professionals (guidance counselors, librarians, etc.) to carry out school wide instructional or related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hold or are in process of obtaining a Washington State teaching certificate
• Endorsed in Appropriate Area

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

• State allowance towards retirement and medical insurance. Dental and Vision included.
• 12 days of Sick Leave per year and 2 Personal Leave Days.
• Salary Range: $50,232 - $94,677.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Background Clearance.
