District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12 from across the District of Columbia. Position Overview: This teaching position entails instructional and planning responsibilities for providing Secondary Science education, with an emphasis in Health Sciences and related courses, to students at DCI during the school year. This content will be taught in English.
Qualifications: A Master's Degree in secondary education or this content area is preferred (Bachelor's Degree is required). Able to meet HQT requirements under NCLB. Previous experience teaching in this content area is strongly preferred. We are a 1:1 school. Ability to use multiple technology platforms to guide instruction and communicate with students and families and comfort communicating using G Suite tools, including Gmail, is preferred
Salary Range: $56,500 - $101,000 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare area and verification of three years of acceptable full-time work experience within the past seven years in the Health Science field; OR
- Bachelors or Master's degree in secondary education and verification of two years of full time work experience as a science or Health Science Teacher.
- Experience as a registered nurse, paramedic, athletic trainer, occupational therapist, physical therapist, or related health care careers is preferred.
- Able to meet HQT requirements under NCLB.
Essential Attributes:
- A minimum of 2 years in an educational setting
- Knowledge of Health Science clinical rotations and internship / work study requirements, policies and procedures.
- Ability to align Health Science curriculum to targeted industry certification exams.
- Ability to provide content knowledge and skills in health related professions.
- Ability to market Health Science programs to students, staff, parents, and business community.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.
