This pooled posting is for the 2023-2024 School Year. An immediate need may not exist, but we will pull from this pool as mid year vacancies arise.
Center City Public Charter Schools (Center City PCS) empower our students for lifelong success by building strong character, promoting academic excellence, and generating public service throughout Washington, D.C. Center City staff are teachers, mentors, and leaders, and they play an important role in ensuring each of our students maximize their potential. Our network serves over 1,400 students annually at our six campuses, located across the District, with a staff of over 250 dedicated individuals.
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction
- Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, subject area content, and pedagogy
- Collaborate with the professional learning community on designing daily lesson plans and customizing the Center City subject area curriculum
- Set instructional outcomes
- Design student assessments
- Create an environment of respect and rapport
- Establish a culture of learning
- Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
- Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students
- Engage students in learning with quality questioning and discussion techniques
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
- Use student data to inform instruction and integrate differentiated instruction
- Engage parents and families in their child’s academic success by fostering an ongoing relationship centered around hopes and dreams
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
- Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLC’s, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus based grade-level planning sessions
- Reflect on teaching by accepting ongoing informal feedback and implement changes based on that feedback
- Follow school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00AM - 4:00PM)
- Attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable subject area, as appropriate
- Passing Praxis scores
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
- Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth
- References that reflect high standing with past employer
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
